Product design
Concepts, sketches and form studies that turn a problem into a product. We work out what it does, how it feels and how it's used before anything gets expensive.
Product design & prototyping · Suffolk, UK
Redhut is a product design and prototyping studio built on twenty years of hands-on manufacturing — from traditional boatbuilding to CNC production. We design things that can actually be made, then build the prototypes to prove it.
Services
Concepts, sketches and form studies that turn a problem into a product. We work out what it does, how it feels and how it's used before anything gets expensive.
Fast, physical iterations — 3D printed, CNC cut, laser cut and hand finished. Real parts you can test, break, show investors and put in front of customers.
Production-ready CAD, drawings, DXFs and BOMs. Materials, tolerances and costs resolved, so your manufacturer quotes on a design that will actually work.
Experience
I started out in traditional boatbuilding, and have spent the twenty years since working with just about every material and process going — timber, composites, metals and plastics, by hand and by CNC.
That breadth is the point. When you bring Redhut an idea, you're working with someone who knows how it will be made, what it should be made from and what it will cost — before the first prototype is cut.
Process
A conversation about what you're making, who it's for, the budget and the timeline. We come back with a fixed-scope proposal.
Sketches, rough models and early CAD. We explore options quickly and narrow down together.
We build it, test it and refine it — as many loops as it takes to get it right in the hand.
Production files, drawings and supplier support, so the thing you approved is the thing that gets made.
CNC programming consultancy
Plenty of workshops own capable CNC kit but don't have the in-house experience for complex machining. We work alongside your team — programming the jobs you can't yet, and showing your operators how to do it themselves.
Contact nowToolpaths for complex parts and multi-sided work, programmed with you so your team understands every step.
Smarter toolpath strategies, feeds and speeds — faster runs, cleaner cuts and longer tool life.
Jigs, vacuum and fixture design so setups are quick and parts come off the machine repeatable.
Hands-on, on your own machines and your own jobs — so the skills stay in-house after we've gone.
